Monday, February 11, 2008 CNY2008 hey everyone!~ cny this year was average and a lil boring.. perhaps it's due to my inner-self having gone through many years of cny that it gets a lil boring and more of a routine..almost everyone buying new apparel, be it top or bottom..and not forgetting accessories that ignites both your inner and outer beauty.. ue know what the funny thing is?? during festive seasons like hari raya haji etc, the malays and indians have something that we chinese probably lack..they know the reason on why they are celebrating and they wear mostly traditional costumes.. one thing about cny is that the chinese wear fanciful, probably extravagant clothing and DO NOT know the reason why they are celebrating CNY..=.=" "i do not know the reason too and most of us do not know".. but somehow, i think it is about family reunion and paying respect to your elders.. nowadays..CNY is about wearing and "showing off" new apparel.. collecting ang pows and counting how much ue'll get is most likely the same as the past..^^  1st daywoke up not that early, at around 9 plus..=p bathed, changed up, styled hair and went downstairs to receive ang pows from parents..   drove to my eldest aunt's house first for visiting..stayed there for a short while and our 2 families took two cars and drove to a temple nearby..my mom, aunt and uncle went in..the rest stayed in the car.. i took my cousin's car so there were 4 of us in each car..XD after that, we headed to tampines, we live in jurong and bukit batok..so it's the other end of singapore.. .jpg) .jpg) went up and greeted "happy new year" to every relative in the house.. went to have steamboat after a while..a few more distant relatives arrived and i had a chat with one of them who is studying in nanyang poly..(same course as one of my friend wee kiat)..talked about each others' courses showed him abit of 3D stuffs and...... yeah..^^ btw, one of my cousin has been in australia for almost a year and another is in china doing "god knows what"..   baby jordan..my nephew   one of my cousins..lol took out my lappy, connected with their modem and went online..we established a webcam connection and i brought my lappy out to the living room..everyone was so excited to see him..a lil bout him..this cousin of mine is a guitarist and he's in blues, jazz and rock..he went to australia with only a psle certificate and with utmost help from his girlfriend who's studying there..he is currently studying sound engineering and already has a job offer from a local company there.. he had steamboat with his girlfriend's friends there and was pretty excited to meet us too.. BACK TO SINGAPORE..everyone was busy waving to him through my lappy's webcam..they were literally waving to my lappy..LOL!!~  frowning and smiling..XD after that i joined in the game of cards..everyone was standing around the table..=.=" i don't know how much i won!! i know i didn't lose..i think probably won like $10 or so.. just playing for fun anyway.. i skipped dinner and played some "taiti" with my cousins and bro..we didn't play with money, just for fun.. .jpg) went home after the 7 o'clock show on channel 8.. 2nd day woke up at around 12pm..HAHAHs..because everyone was supposedly coming to my house on the 2nd day..my mom's friends arrived at about 1pm++ and went down to greet them, got ang pows and went up to my room to do some music..after that..they went out and i had a window of about an hour to do my stuff..  soon after that, relatives from both my mom and dad's side came pouring in.. talked quite a lot to my dad's relatives as we see each other like maybe 3 to 5 times a year?? lol..quite a sad thing..anyway..will be meeting them again for ching ming and my cousin's wedding this year..^^   bro and cousins from dad's side   showed them photos of our trip to turkey and had steamboat at the car porch of my house.. my mom's relatives went back at about 9 to 10pm and my dad's relatives went back at about 11pm..2nd day ended in a click of a pen.. 3rd day nothing much..went to my grandparents' place at queensway and went to my grandauntie's house at redhill..hailed a taxi and followed my dad's car to redhill and back..went back to queensway to have dinner.. .jpg) 4th day woke up at about 12pm again and had breakfast..we set out at about 2pm and drove to jalan something something..where all the rather old semi-detached houses are located..there live my deceased grandmother's, (dad's side) whom my mom never got to see before, let alone me.., COUSIN..they are the closest relatives we have..i just called them grand-auntie/uncle..they are about 70 years old and we spoke in english even to my parents..amazing!~ my parents call them "Gu Day"..a hainanese name for a mother's cousin or something..  .jpg) .jpg) visited them two years ago..they have a long dining table where we ate heavy snacks such as egg tarts, stuffed bbq pork pastry, bengawan solo's cakes etc..a lot luhs..   stayed for quite a while there..about 3 hours and we took 3 cars to my GuGu's house..my aunt for short..our cars were tagging each other..quite fun..LOL .jpg) the 2 cars infront are my relatives'..^^went there to have steamboat dinner once again...jpg) talked to cousins and went for a tour to my cousin's newly-bought house (the one who's getting married this may)..only like a 3 to 4 min walk from my aunt's house in punggol..the previous owner left a lot of stuff to them such as a fridge, ceiling fan, tv sets, and a lot of built-in furnitures..a resort-like decor..will put more photos when the house is fully touched-up..went back to my aunt's place and headed home straight-away..
